The "Southland" troopship

Illustration of the troopship "Southland" published after it was torpedoed carrying Jim Martin and the 21st Battalion from Egypt to Mudros in late August 1915. Some 30 men were killed, others were pitched into the sea with the lifeboats, including young Jim. The ship limped safely into harbour.
