LUCY'S CAT NEW PAPERBACK EDITION

A fresh paperback edition of "Lucy's Cat and the Rainbow Birds" will be published by Puffin Books in February. Priced at $14.95, you can place orders for personally signed copies with special author bookmark by emailing Anthony through his Contact page.
Written by Anthony Hill and illustrated by Jane Tanner, "Lucy's Cat and the Rainbow Birds" has been well received since its first publication in 2007. Described by The Sunday Age as "Brilliantly vivid", it was listed as a "Notable Book" by the Children's Book Council of Australia in 2008.
Now to celebrate the New Year "Lucy's Cat and the Rainbow Birds" has come out in a new smart paperback format with a new cover design.
Where the hardback cover had the cat eyeing the rainbow birds against a pink background, the new edition features the final page picture (in reverse) of Lucy reading peacefully to her cat and the birds against a cream background.
One reason for the change is a desire to broaden the book's appeal, especially among boys. In a recent classroom experiment, Anthony found that the boys overwhelmingly preferred the cream cover over the pink, although the girls were fairly equally divided between the two.
Both Anthony and the artist Jane Tanner are happy with the change.
Jane says, "It's a new edition and a new look." And Anthony adds, "I hope the story's message will spread even more widely so that everyone may find peace."
