Hi Anthony, In 1959, my 90 year old grandfather, a retired vet & old soldier, gave me his prized copy of 'Horrie the Wog Dog' as a parting gift at the end of a holiday. As a 13 y/o, I was enthralled with the story. I read it again about 3 years ago and was still fascinated by that plucky little dog. Sadly Grandad passed later that year so I always associate Horrie's story with that gentle old man. Happily, I was reading your website tonight and was pleased to learn that Horrie survived the bureaucratic bullet and lived till old age. It was like hearing good news about an old friend after sixty years. Horrie, and all the other animal heroes, deserve the recognition that is being bestowed on them....finally. While this was rough on the poor little substitute, it must be remembered that the powers-that-be were determined to shoot something...anything. Thank you for telling this story.

Anthony, We shared a bunk room in the Cottage for a year (1955) at BHGS,you were writing a medieval tale about a Black Knight as I remember,it seemed to be the most important thing in your life when Gilbert & Sullivan didn't interupt.I was from Tonga and was known as Tonga, started in '54 at the same time as "Tubby" Venema.

Good to see you happily "authoring" still. Tonga

Hi Anthony Just finished reading Young Digger that I got from you following our discussion at the Canberra Bus Depot Markets in Mid February. A most interesting and easy to read book that was all the more vivid for me due to the mention of places on the Western Front that I visited last year.

Hi Anthony I starting to read Captain Cook's APPRENTICE and I am finding it very interesting. I find that book very helpful because at school we are doing history on him. From Barbara B's little friend, Roland Brown.

Dear Anthony, your book "Captain Cook's Apprentice" has just arrived, looks good. As usual I go first to Bibliography and appreciate all your research, many thanks you have saved me years.

Dear Anthony, thank you for our 'authorgraphed' copies of 'Soldier Boy', 'Young Digger' and 'Animal Heroes' which arrived Tuesday, as promised, much to our delight. Their arrival, though, has caused a little dilemma as to who was able to read which book first - a fun situation between the Grandparents and the Grandchildren.

ANZAC DAY has always been symbolic and a very special day, but the Reverence, Awe and Patriotism felt today, has come from reading the stories, written by talented people like you and other authors interested in these events, as well as the ease of travel to these very special places and of course modern technology - television and films. It would have been 'great' for us, the 'oldies', to have been able to read your books much, much earlier.

Thank you once again for writing these stories and I'm sure they'll be found on the shelves of many Libraries - Community, School (Primary and Secondary) and many Home Libraries as well, BUT NOT FOR LONG, as they will be read and re-read many, many times

Congratulations on a job well-done with the writing of these three books and the many others you have written, which we will read at a later time and we look forward to reading the many others stories that you have brewing in your research melting-pot

Dear Anthony, Thank you ever so much for your beautiful book "Lucy's Cat and the Rainbow Birds", which arrived yesterday afternoon. Ella and Aden are absolutely thrilled and what an honour to have such a special book dedicated from you, the author. I am studying to be a primary school teacher and your book features as the main literacy text for a kindergarten program on the environment, and what children can do to help save our beautiful, native wildlife. Many thanks again and could you also pass my thanks on to Jane for her beautiful illustrations and for the bookplate.

Tony, what a terrific site! It was especially nice to see "Antique Furniture in Australia" again - it's the ONLY book for furniture restorers, and I hope it'll be back in print again soon.
